Facebook has always wow-ed the world with new features time and again. One of the recent addition to its feature list is – creating and sharing of 3D photo for Facebook – using single camera mobiles.
The 3D photo feature was first released in the year 2018, however, it needed mobiles having dual cameras. In the recent updated feature release, Facebook eliminated the need of dual cameras, thereby, giving smartphone users much freedom and less restrictions.
As mentioned earlier, the first release required portrait mode shots for 3D photos creation. It was primarily because Facebook relied on Depth Estimation Technique. This technique calculates the depth of objects from multiple images or views. Therefore, one requires the use of two cameras. But, the new update, however, uses Machine Learning (ML) to work out the three dimensional structure of an image. This has made it much easy for the users to create a 3D image.
Moreover, Facebook has announced that anyone with a mid-range to high-range good mobiles would be able to access this feature. As the technical requirements i.e.: dual camera got reduced in this new update, it has become a talk of town and users across the globe are eagerly waiting to try it out. However, the feature doesn’t seem to – have been rolled out fully. So, the waiting game is on!
